'Twas the night before Christmas

A Christmas Eve wedding - not Jingle Bells, but wedding bells! A beautiful and intimate gathering, for the closest of friends and family. A garden wedding, at the family home. Would I be interested in photographing the event? Hmm…absolutely, I would! 

And so it was, that Bridgette and James were married on a hot summer's day, in the cool of the shade that the beautiful golden elm cast over the garden. The quintessential Burra bluestone home made for the perfect backdrop, complete with white picket fence. Every last detail had been pulled together by Bridgette and James, and their families. Garden nurtured in one of the driest of years, flowers arranged by Mum, reception meal cooked by Dad, served in the marquee next to the house - signposted, by the hand-painted Roth cricket scoreboard! The beautiful details were a delight, as was the atmosphere that can only be created with a small gathering of your nearest and dearest.

We had NO shortage of local spots for the location shoot afterwards, and despite the high 30's temperature, not one of the bridal party grizzled as I traipsed them around in the unforgiving Australian sun to some of our iconic spots for photos. Two of the spots had particular meaning to the bride and groom, and their families, so it was a real honour to incorporate that element into the shoot. In particular, Bridgette's folks had some of their wedding photos taken in the beautiful stone Cornish Enginehouse, many moons ago. It was a real treat to recreate some of those memories from their special day! Special thanks to the ever-lovely Paul, for opening it up especially for us, on such a hot and Christmassy Eve. It was above, and beyond.

Mr and Mrs Roth, I thank you and your families for allowing me into your space on the day (particularly Sharon and Alan!). It was a real privilege to spend Christmas Eve with you! May you have a long and happy life together.
